Palo Santo Wood

Palo Santo Wood

Palo Santo is a sacred wood used to ward off negative energies and cleanse the space around you. It can be used to purify the energies of your crystals as well as your home.

This sacred wood can also be used in your meditation practice as it helps connect you to your inner consciousness.

Palo Santo has a scent of mint, pine and lemon that engulfs its space even when not burned.

Its strong but calming scent is believed to restore tranquillity and enhance lucidity and focus.

In the summertime, its fragrance is also a wonderful insect repellent.

  • How to use

Light the Palo Santo stick and allow it to burn for up to a minute before blowing it out. To keep the stick lit, you can blow on its ember.

Open your doors and windows during the process in order to allow the unwanted energies to escape your space.

If used to purify the energies of your crystals, simply allow the smoke to engulf them while visualizing the cleansing.

If used to cleanse the energies in your house, start at your door and walk clockwise, allowing the smoke to flow freely through your space.

After using it, place your Palo Santo stick on a fireproof surface and let the fire die out on its own.

Keep your doors and windows open for another 5 to 10 minutes after using the Palo Santo to ensure that all negative energies have left.

  • Francesca's Note

Palo Santo is Spanish for “holy wood” and grows in South America. This sacred wood is only harvested 5 to 10 years after the natural death of the tree as this is when its medicinal and mystical properties come alive. Palo Santo has been used for thousands of years in various rituals such as plant medicine ceremonies.
